Athletic Facilities Projects

Between 2012 and 2016, St. Bonaventure’s athletics facilities were transformed. From the Reilly Center to the outdoor athletics complex, almost every team has been impacted positively. The genesis of this work was the university’s first-ever comprehensive strategic plan for athletics entitled “Your Teams – Our Extraordinary Future.” It was the result of a two-year-long planning process, the outcomes of which represent the University’s commitment to strengthening its position in the Atlantic 10 Conference and NCAA Division I as a key strategy to support the global goals of the University.

These transformations were completely funded through the generous donations of Bonnies alumni, parents, and fans. Details on our major facility projects can be found by clicking on each of the photos below.

Men's Basketball Office Renovations

In August of 2016, the finishing touches were completed to the renovation of the men’s basketball offices. The project was funded by the Sixth Man Club.

Six work spaces were updated with new flooring, lighting, furniture and wall murals – the head coach’s office, three assistant coaches offices, the director of basketball operations office and the reception area. There are Bonnies and A-10 logos positioned throughout the area, and the stairway leading to the offices now features a large wolf painting.

The most dramatic addition is a glass display for the 2016 Atlantic 10 regular season championship trophy and the 2012 A-10 Tournament championship trophy outside the entry way to the offices.

St. Bonaventure was proud to partner with VSP Graphic Group from Buffalo on this project.

Women’s Basketball Locker Room & Meeting Room

In 2013, fundraising was completed to build a new locker room and team meeting rooms for St. Bonaventure’s women’s basketball team.

Spurred by a $75,000 gift from John H. Meisch, class of 1958, and his wife, Kay, donors contributed a total of $300,000 for the project.  It opened prior to the 2013-14 season and is one of the premier facilities in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

The project was the primary facility needs outlined in the Athletics Strategic Plan “Your Teams – Our Extraordinary Future.” The improvements advance the student-athletes’ academic, competitive and social development.

The space, which is located just steps off the arena floor, includes a 15-stall locker room; smart board and large-screen TV for film study and game planning; team meeting room, including computer stations; and a modern shower and bathroom facility. In total, it encompasses 1,740 square feet.

Many of the gifts were a tribute to head coach Jim Crowley and the nationally ranked Bonnies (31-4), who went unbeaten in the A-10 in 2011-12 and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
