History of the BAF

The Bonaventure Athletic Fund was created in the mid-1980s by Athletics Department staff members, alumni and basketball season ticket holders to formalize the fund raising efforts for all Bonnies intercollegiate sports teams. Originally called the Bona Backers, that name was later designated to Corporate Partners and the name Bonaventure Athletic Fund (and the BAF acronym) was instituted.

In the summer of 2013, the University unveiled changes to the BAF highlighted by a change in the name to Bonnies Athletic Fund; a new logo, website, video and brochure. Also, an ambitious goal of 1,500 members by the end May 2016 was set.

What has not changed is the mission of the BAF, which remains to help Bonnies student-athletes compete for championships.
