Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Bonnies Athletic Fund?

The BAF is the annual fund-raising drive of the St. Bonaventure Athletics Department.  The BAF helps Bonnies student-athletes compete for championships by raising funds necessary for our teams to succeed in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Where does the money go?

All funds raised through the BAF provide operational support to the Department of Athletics.  The BAF does not raise funds for scholarships.

What is the University’s fiscal year?

St. Bonaventure University’s fiscal year begins on June 1 and ends May 31, so the BAF member total for each year follows this same calendar.

Are there options for payment plans?

Absolutely. A donor may fulfill their gift with a one-time payment with cash, check, or credit card, or, if they prefer, donors can set a payment schedule (for example, monthly, quarterly, special request). There are requirements for new donors who are requesting basketball season tickets in Priority Seating areas of the Reilly Center; please contact our office for more information.

Does the BAF accept matching gifts from companies?

Yes! The BAF encourages donors to check if their employer matches charitable contributions. In addition, whenever a company matches a gift, the donor receives full credit for that gift as well as his or her portion of the gift. Matching gifts are one more way you can make an even greater contribution to the overall success of St. Bonaventure Athletics.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes. As a general rule, 80% of your gift is tax deductible. Members will receive a gift receipt at the close of the calendar year which details the gift(s) they made to the BAF. Members are encouraged to speak to their personal financial advisors regarding specific deductions and their gift(s).

Do gifts to capital projects count toward BAF membership?

No they do not. BAF gifts are annual gifts, hopefully made on a recurring basis, as opposed to one-time gifts where funds are directed to capital projects such as the women’s basketball locker room.
